Casa Cook Samos

Casa Cook Samos sits on a slope above the island's northern coast, and the building follows the land instead of levelling it. Rooms step down in terraces. Almost every one looks out across pine, scrub and open water.

The material palette is deliberately narrow — lime-washed walls, pale timber, rattan, unglazed clay. Shade, airflow and the angle of the afternoon sun shape the plan; courtyards break the accommodation into small clusters. Planting is left largely wild, so the property reads as part of the hillside.

A stay here runs slowly. Breakfast is long, the pool is the centre of the day, evenings drift. Samos rewards anyone who leaves the property too: vineyards inland, small harbour villages, and a coast that stays quiet outside the peak weeks.
